ABK team visits Sine village
PASIGHAT, Dec 13: Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) team led by its President Kangir Jamoh visited Sine Village of East Siang District where 32 houses were burnt to ashes in a devastating fire mishap recently.
During the visit, ABK Youth Wing contributed some financial aid to the fire accident victims as immediate relief and appealed to the state government to look into the grievances of fire victims immediately.
The president appealed the people to continue the traditional Lamkang system and urged the people to follow fire accident precaution measure to avoid such major catastrophe. Earlier, on their way to Sine, the Adi Bane Kebang team held a meeting with the leaders and members of Siang District headquarters Demand Committee, Boleng at Boleng Tourist Lodge on Tuesday last.
During the meeting, the ABK members appealed people of Siang district to maintain peace and harmony.
NCST team arrives at Tawang

DNGC Student Union seek more bus service
ITANAGAR, Dec 13: The Students’ Union of Dera Natung Government College Itanagar has appealed for five more buses to be provided to the college claiming that the lone bus is not enough to transport the 5000 plus collegians.
In this regard, it has written a letter to the Education Minister.

ITANAGAR, Dec 13: Manipur—the power house of Indian sports—underlined their growing prowess emerging overall champion in the North East Sports Competition which concluded at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy Complex, Chimpu near here today.
Manipur won 89 medals-
Karate contributed the major chunk of medals (12) for the host state.
Arunachal won gold medals in Karate (nine) Judo (five), Boxing (five), Weightlifting (four), Badminton (three), Archery (two), Wushu (one) and Track and Field events (one).
Arunachal created history by winning gold medals for the first time in NE Games since introduction of the games 28 years ago.
Ace shuttler of the state Laa Talar lived up to home crowds expectations and won the men’s single title defeating W. James of Manipur in the final. The hosts also clinched two gold medals in women’s single and double events and bagged the team champion in Badminton.
Lifters Soram Hitlar Tagru, Yukar Tachak, Kojum Taba and Tang Devi did not disappoint and clinched a gold medal each in their respective weight categories. Another promising lifter from Arunachal Sambo Lapung won a Silver medal.

RKMH brings healthcare to doorsteps

When enquired, one Andeng Libang said that such camps are beneficial for patients who otherwise do not have the chance to get themselves thoroughly checked. O. Mena of Sirang village said that such camps should be held every year. Appreciating the efforts of the RKMH, Naha Mikhu of Bijari village who brought his wife to the camp said that such camps are beneficial for people who are unable to avail advanced medical facilities.
The health camp was opened by Parliamentary secretary WRD Gum Tayeng on Friday. The logistics of the camp was provided by Dambuk Baane Panchayat and Anyang Si:rum and the local administration.
Action plan to provide health care facilities for elderly people

NERCORMP adopts Longman as model village

JAIRAMPUR, Dec 13: North East Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) was officially launched at Longman village by MLA Laisam Simai on Dec 12. With this launch, Longman village with nearly 400 people became the first model village to be adopted under NERCORMP. The project is expected to change the rural landscape of Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Laisam Simai advised all the villagers to avail the enormous opportunities NERCORMP offers by keeping aside their personal differences. Motivating the rural throng, Simai advised them to work together as a team to gain success. “NERCORMP has given us the chance to work as a team and we should utilize this platform without any negativity”, he said.
Simai also said “we have lost many opportunities in the past due to our ignorance and laidback approach”. He advised the masses not to treat NERCORMP like other project that disappears without any follow up.
Former minister Komoli Mossang lamented about the SHGs that crumble due to lack of follow up. She also said that local NGOs attached to grassroots level should be preferred as a sign for encouragement.
Former ZPC Izmir Tikhak said NERCORMP will allow the villagers to earn according to their ability and need. He appealed the line departments to extend their supporting hand and suggested all the villages to make maximum benefit from it.
The Miao Times Editor Pisi Zauing also spoke on the occasion. NERCORMP can solve all the problem of villages as we can undertake all the activities of a village under this project, he said.
In an interactive session with villagers, NERCORMP (Changlang, Tirap & Longding) Project Manager R Billai responded to the queries of the villagers. He also divulged that on phase wise manner model village from Nampong and Manmao area will be selected. “Our target is to cover as many as we can in next five years,” he said. He also requested the line departments to extend their support in order to make this project a big success.

Water quality monitoring and surveillance program at Pumao circle
KHONSA, Dec 13: A day long programme on water quality assessment was conducted by PHE & WS Division, Khonsa at Pumao village on Dec 12.
Doi Tarak, Consultant, PHE & WS Division, Khonsa informed that the individual health and hygiene is largely dependent on adequate availability of drinking water and proper sanitation. More than 50 kinds of disease and 80 percent of sickness are due to lack of potable water supply and good sanitation facilities. Indiscriminate open air defecation is the cause for transmission of diseases like cholera, dysentery, typhoid and warm infections. He mentioned that the major causes of diseases in Tirap/ Longding districts are due to consumption of unsafe drinking water, improper disposal of human excreta, improper environmental sanitation and lack of personal and food hygiene.
Pasang Ratan, LT, PHESD Longding gave demonstrative training on how to use and measure the chemical reagents while handling the Field Test Kit(FTK) for water quality testing. Lampang Wangsa, Consutant, PHE & WS Divison, Khonsa, Tiren Ketok, Block Coordinator, P Wangpan, ASM, Pumao also spoke on the occasion.

Two days APCMUHIS enrollment camp concludes
PASIGHAT, Dec 13: Around 1100 persons enrolled in a two days Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme (APCMUHIS) camp held at General Hospital Pasighat.
Meanwhile, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava while inspecting the ongoing enrolment process today said that Pasighat town in particular, the district as whole is densely populated and the time frame for total enrollment may not be enough to complete the process in time. Highlighting the difficulties in enrolment of people for smart card under the scheme, she said people should be well informed every time through wide publicity and get sufficient times to enroll their names so that all can avail free treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals in the state and other parts of the country.
Giving an overview of the scheme, Srivastava said “we need to be the agent to provide better health service to all.” She called upon the health managers to work with commitment on a mission mode for successful implementation of the APCMUHIS. Stressing the need of organizing mass awareness camp at grass root level to ensure maximum coverage, Srivastava urged the PRIs and municipal councillors should come forward, work hard and give extra efforts for successful implementation of the health scheme. She called upon all stakeholders to come out with valuable suggestions to make the scheme a grand success and further called upon the health insurer for timely release of payment to the empanelled hospitals.
Dr. Kabang Lego (JDHS) and Dr. Y R Darang (MS) supervised the camp and extended their cooperation to the team.

Orgs express displeasure over detention of bandh callers
